How To Create A Google My Business Listing

Step 1: Create a Google Account if you haven’t already and if you have, then log into the account you want associated with your business listing

Step 2: Pop over to google.com/business and select ‘Start Now’ in the top right corner of the web browser.

Step 3: Enter your business name and business address

Step 4: If your customers don’t come to your address and instead you go to theirs, check the box ‘I deliver goods and services to my customers.’

If you don’t want your business address shown publicly, check the box ‘Hide my address (it’s not a store) only show region.’

Then select your delivery area

Step 5: Choose your business category. Be sure to choose the one that most closely represents the business and industry you are in because this information helps Google determine which types of potential customers should see your listing.

Step 6: Add your business phone number and website

Step 7: Choose how you would like to verify your business listing.

How to Verify Your Business On Google

Select from the following options to verify your Google My Business listing

    • Mailed postcard
    • Phone
    • Email
    • Instant verification
    • Bulk verification

 

Here’s how to verify your business using the three most commonly used methods.

Verify your account by postcard:

Confirm the address you entered when setting up your GMB listing is correct and then select ‘mail’. Once your postcard arrives in the mail, log back into your Google account and enter the verification code provided on the postcard.

Verify your account by phone:

Confirm that the phone number you entered when setting up your GMB listing is correct and then select verification by phone and enter the verification code sent by text message.

Verify your account by email:

Select to verify your account by email then pop over to your email and click the verification link in the email from Google.

Once you’ve verified you Google My Business listing be sure to jazz it up by adding as much extra information as you can including hours of operation, photos, information on upcoming events and promotions. The more information rich you make it, the more likely you are to attract customers to your business.
